Industry Insider: 6MM Airsoft Events

This company has been buzzing for the past couple weeks with some of the amazing AO’s they were able to secure for 2021. I am excited for the continuous growth of Airsoft in 2021 and event companies trying to bring us the best experience possible. Got to speak with the head guy, Hunter, more about 6MM and how it came about.

  • Can you tell the readers a little bit about your company? (what services you provide)

6MM Airsoft was originally a team that started in late 2016. In 2019 we started hosting very small events at our local field and available land in our local area. Possibly the worst year for everyone else wasn’t so bad for us. We started grabbing regional attention in 2020 with CQB Tournaments as well as larger gamedays. This process kept growing exponentially to the point we are at today.

  • In your opinion, do you think that Covid has helped or hurt the industry you provide your services to? (In what ways?)

2020 honestly didn’t treat us that bad.  One of our events earlier in the year was cancelled, but other than that we took the year to really grind out the nitty gritty details of the direction we wanted to go.

  • With the emergence of Covid-19 how has it affected your business? (good or bad)

This answer has changed for me recently.  Before we got on the map I would say no it hasn’t affected us as a business.  Regionally where we are located in TN, airsoft has only gone up because of Covid, but since we can no longer think regionally and we have to think nationally I would say it has affected the target audience and areas we try to pursue.

What makes your company different than the ones that do the same exact thing in the industry?

I’m not going to lie, there are a lot of fish in this pond and some of them are way bigger than me and others are right behind me.  You know, I think most event companies try to emulate the bigger companies and that’s why there is a high turnover rate for these companies.  We are dealing with a hobby that provides people excitement,  people don’t want to play at your weekend field or overused AO that doesn’t spice it up.  They want to play at that old factory they pass by on their way to work or the prison they toured last weekend.  That’s what provides excitement.

  • What makes you want to keep doing what you do in the community?

What does it for me is the joy and memories I can provide people. The feeling that all my events shoot for is whenever you are driving to your local field on Saturday morning or when you pull up and see the AO for the first time. That feeling of anxious anticipation, if you don’t have that feeling or have lost it come to my events and I will do everything in my power to restore it.

  • Upcoming events and/or amazing AO’s your company have on the calendar?

So as of now we have 4 events announced. We want to get a healthy number of events without saturating or overdrawing our market. We have 6 announced AO’s and we have 10 more on retainer to announce based on interest levels. We serve the people in this business and if abandoned buildings are what people want then we have no shortage of those to give them. We also have our Flagship Event announced Operation Iron Mountain. The AO is Iron Mountain ATV Park and it is all of 4,300 acres. We figured that we could try something different in the event community. “Mechanized Event,” Iron mountain is going to be very vehicle heavy, we have two busses that will ferry soldiers to and from spawn as well as three main aspects. Main Battle Element, Armored Element, and a Supply Element. All equally important to the success of each team. That one is a 44hr event and we will see you in September for that one.
