Industry Insider: Rogue Customs

Who is Rogue Customs?

I started painting back in 2016 when I got kicked out of my house when I was 20. I was a wildland firefighter at the time and I was waiting for the new season to start so I wanted to have a side hustle. Trying to survive off of that and not really having the best work or material to use like how I have now it was extremely difficult. I ended up giving up on it because well the clients weren’t there in Southern Oregon. So I restarted this whole entire thing back in the in the middle of December 2020, and it was a struggle at first. Luckily I met the right people who believed in me and what I was doing. Started out with @isaac.villafranca from ig who met me on hop up before I got removed and he started the “villa project” and having @midwestfirearmsolutions creating my stencils at the time for me it launched me forward. Fast forward a few months I was able to do 4 huge projects that really gave me success. 1 was for swavy, 2 for sussoft aka eion, 3rd would be for virus and the 4th would be for ZB! Those 4 launched me forward and then having non stop repeat clients and others loving the work I did for all of them.

With the pandemic still ongoing, how has it affected your business? (good or bad)

Luckily I didn’t have to really deal with the pandemic in full force because it was at the end of 2020. Main restrictions I ran into was overseas and shipping.

Do you feel that your company provides adequate customer service to those customers who are purchasing products from you?

Honestly I try and message back everyone and anyone from normal conversations, to talking about designs or giving quotes to people. A lot of people I sponsor actually started because I was able to talk to them about their items and getting to know them.

What makes your company different than the ones that do the same exact thing in the industry?

Well no one really is out here airbrushing, I see a lot of rattle can or cerakote and hydro dip but to get really amazing work costs a lot of money. So I wanted to offer an amazing cost effective solution where people can have a an option to have amazing work done without destroying their bank. I know us airsofters always look for the best deal!

How would you describe your company’s success so far?

My success has been unreal! To be able to work with people and companies I have been blessed to do is just amazing! From work with MSE, full auto, now LaCapa and SS!!! It’s been amazing so far! It’s also been amazing to have my work now infecting fields all over the USA, I mean the amount of people that talk to me about ZUKA and his mask is amazing feedback.

Does your business give back to your community?

I’ve always tried and show love to the community I’ve done a lot of behind the scenes stuff that I try not to draw attention to. I know I have done 2 major giveaway to date! One was with Ronin airsoft where we gave away a lot of damascus themed stuff including a gun! Also another giveaway with FTA and 5bt, where we did odins slides and mags! I’m now getting ready to do my biggest giveaway yet for my 4k, where there’s going to be 2 parts to it! One will be free for the community and the other is exclusive for the golden patch members where they will have a chance to win a brand new Dye i5, a G&G Cm16 from SS and so many more things!

How do you handle negative reviews/feedback?

Luckily I haven’t really had much negativity but I know it’s bound to come. I had one freak mistake with full auto where I destroyed a paintjob by accident when I was putting the gun back together and I have luckily bounced back since then and I’ve been on a roll so far. I try and treat everyone with love and respect so that way I don’t have any bad feedback about myself personally.

What changes have you made to your business strategy since you started?

I’ve changed how I prepped my dyes, I have reinvested back into better compressors and airbrushes and now try to create my own stencils but of course always have Midwest to help me if I can’t do it!

What are your current hot products that everyone is grabbing?

Hot takes hmmmmm I would say chameleon has blown up for me! I finally found out how to do it and I haven’t slowed down since! Chameleon colors are amazing even by themselves because of how they shift! but I also have other secret colors to play with!

Where do you think the company will be in five years?

n 5 years I wanna be 100% doing this all of the time! No more normal job, just me painting every day! To have a website, to travel all over the United States and maybe even overseas! To become a household name for customization and give people their own identity on the field and make them stand out!
