Lancer Tactical LT-53 (AK74)

Hey guys this is your boy randomguykev and I am bringing you a 2 minute review of the Lancer Tactical LT-53 or the AK74 powered by Lancer Tactical. Yes, something other than an M4 and I am loving it. This is my first dive into an AK styled replica and I wasn’t as disappointed. This was something different and fun to use. The Lancer Tactical LT-53 retails for about $300 to $330 depending on where you are trying to pick it up from.

This AK was a bit of a long one for me with the 10.5 MLOK rail system and the 3 position crane stock. This is a solid gun with some parts being metal, while some having that durable polymer seen in newer Lancer Tactical models. I feel that if you provide a crane stock, that the gun would be rear wired but oddly enough it was top wired. I’m assuming that is standard for most AKs on the airsoft market but I will learn more as I better familiarize myself with the AK platform in the future. So you will definitely need a stick battery for this. To adjust the hopup you need to pull back on the charging handle a bit, then you will see the slide to adjust the hopup on the AK. Using .20s it was shooting at 320 FPS way under the advertised FPS limit of 380-400 FPS. Running it indoors was exciting as it gave me a change of pace from running either an M4 or pistol. This ran great for indoor play but I did notice I definitely have to break it in more before it does what I need it to do. Trigger pull felt somewhat delayed before the BB came out.  It wasn’t as responsive as I wanted it to be but it got the job done. For outdoor, the range wasn’t where I wanted it to be.  I was using .32s which may have been too heavy for it but you could tell the performance difference outdoors to indoors. I switched it to .25s and it definitely lifted the BBs more but the distance it traveled still wasn’t anything to be desired. I would need some minor tweaking to make it an all around beast for both environments. The thing I really didn’t like about this is that it’s super long and a little harder to maneuver around corners. Ultimately breaking it in some more will let me know if I can run this more often on the field.

With a $300+ price point, I was expecting top tier performance from it but got subpar performance. This being my first AK, this didn’t get me too excited to jump ship to this style yet but maybe in the future. I will stick to my M4s for now. If you are a beginner please play with a rental gun before purchasing anything to see if you even like airsoft. If you are looking to purchase this gun, I will leave a link for it in below.
